Tátova křídla
Initially playful, later a suspenseful and emotional novella, jointly narrated by a father and daughter despite being long separated by death.
The story of 'Tatova Kridla' tells of Daniel, who became a father on the day of his death, and his daughter Majda, who became an orphan on the day of her birth. However, Daniel remains by Majda's side for the next sixteen years as her protector, guiding her through life with the help of angels. With the arrival of the angel of death, he faces unpredictable and challenging trials, and Daniel's protective wings go out of control.

I walk up to her bed and lie down behind her back. I wrap one arm around her and gently stroke her hair with the other. "I'm sorry, sweetheart. I didn't mean for this. I'm sorry."
She keeps crying for a while and I continue to comfort her. "It's okay, everything will be fine. I'm here with you." It seems she is slowly calming down, and I give her a relieved kiss on the hair. "Just sleep. You'll feel better in the morning, you'll see. Sleep well."
With one last shaky breath she closes her eyes and begins to breathe calmly. Another tear falls from her wet long lashes and her body curls up into a ball, still holding the plush panda in her hands.
"That's right. Sleep sweetly and may you have beautiful dreams. I'll watch over them for you, okay?"
I stay lying next to her, stroking her hair, and as she falls asleep I let my imagination play and create a beautiful scene full of unlimited fantasy that will appear to her as a dream. Just like Helena taught me. I lie there for many more hours, watching the profile of her sleeping face and thinking about what I should do now. I don't want her to stop creating her visions where she talks to me after this. It's the only direct contact I have with her, even though she doesn't know it. I don't want to give it up, and I don't want to give up hope that one day she will figure out who is truly watching over her.
I hear a soft rustling sound behind me and turn toward it. Helena appears and gives me a small smile. "You have your head full of worries."
I don't respond, I just get out of bed and walk to the other side of the room to the wall, where I sit on the floor and Helena sits next to me. She wraps one wing around my shoulders and I lean against her.
"I was too fast with her. I tried to tell her the truth that I'm watching over her, but she thought I was just her imagination as always. And she started crying."
"Even if she believed you, I think it would still be very hard for her to accept it. How would you react to something like that?"
I think about it for a moment, trying to put myself in Majda's place. Then I just shake my head. "I don't know."
"Don't be afraid, Daniel. Give her some time now to process everything, and maybe she'll come to you herself."
